The fun never stops at WLMC. After an exciting day of learning, we provide our students with the opportunity to explore new interests and interact with their classmates outside of our typical learning program. Each year, we work with a variety of highly vetted third parties to offer our Montessori students fun and engaging activities for their age level!
Although our extracurricular activity offerings can vary from year to year, the following information is a sample of the amazing programs we have offered our students in the past.
Our karate program incorporates all of the protocols and disciplines of a typical martial arts studio, but in a unique, fun manner for our Montessori preschool and Elementary children. By participating in this extracurricular activity, the children will learn about respect, self-control, hand/eye coordination, concentration, and goal setting. The physical benefits are profound, as children will practice kicking, punching, blocking, stretching, and jumping during each interactive class.
At WLMC, we understand just how important physical activity is to a young child’s development. Throughout our Extracurricular Yoga program our preschool and kindergarten students learn to improve their balance, coordination, flexibility, and the ability to consciously relax. . Here, our extracurricular Yoga class is a playful activity. One thing our students love is letting out a big roar in lion pose!
Young children benefit from any physical activity that helps them develop their motor schools and let out some energy, and our Ballet and dance activities do just that! This extracurricular option for WLMC students encourages a healthy lifestyle in a fun way that doesn’t feel like work! Dancing give students exercise while incorporating strength, flexibility, balance, speed, coordination, and discipline. Teaching students basic health and fitness will set the foundation for a happy, healthy future!
We are very excited to offer French to all of our children ages 3 and up as part of our Extracurricular skills! At the end of the school year doing our "Talent Show" the children, led by the french teacher, will present a French Recital where the children will show off the skills they have developed throughout the year. This is an amazing opportunity for them to learn a second language and we are happy to have started this in hope of making our school a full bilingual school in the future!
